April is Alcohol Awareness Month. It’s a great time of year to re-evaluate your life and to determine whether or not alcohol has become a dangerous influence in your family or community. Since alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in the world, it can be hard to determine whether your use is “normal” or not. If you think you (or someone you know) has a problem, however, it is best to seek out a professional rehabilitation center and get their help to determine whether alcohol addiction may be present.
Once you have made this important decision, there are several factors you’re going to have to look at while deciding what rehab center to use. The US Department of Health and Human Services has released a guide for finding effective alcohol and drug addiction treatment, and Narconon Freedom Center is promoting it in order to help support Alcohol Awareness Month.
Here are some of the important steps you need to be aware of when you are seeking effective alcohol treatment.
Does it accept insurance?
One of the first questions you’ll have to answer is a practical one. Does the center you are looking at accept health insurance? Rehab services can be expensive, so you don’t want to have to be paying for them out of pocket. If you can get your insurance company to cover rehab, it will probably be much easier for you to attend rehab from a financial point of view.
The recent passage of the Affordable Care Act has dictated that most health care plans now need to cover some level of rehabilitation services, so check with your insurance agent to find out if your rehab stay can be covered.
Is the center accredited?
Another important question to answer is whether or not a rehab center is accredited. There are several main accreditation organizations that will inspect rehab centers for quality, so find out if the rehab you are looking at is accredited. Knowing that the center you want to attend has been examined by professionals should help give you the peace of mind that you really are going to get your money’s worth in terms of professionals that really do want to get you or your loved one clean.
Is the facility clean and welcoming?
Many times in life, outward appearances can actually tell you a lot about the real state of an organization and the service that it is providing. If you visit a rehab center and find that it is dirty and uncared-for, there is a very good chance that these outward appearances also serve as an indication of the level of dedication and care of the staff. Do you want to work on such an important subject with people that have very little care for how their own facility comes across to potential rehab clients?
Does the rehab provide aftercare?
One of the most important stages of rehab actually comes after a client has left a rehab facility. This stage is called “aftercare.” Aftercare consists of all the actions a rehab takes to stay in touch with graduates of its program to ensure they are applying everything they have learned. By continuing to stay in touch with these graduates, a rehab like Narconon Freedom Center can ensure that all graduates are continuing to live drug-free lives. On the rare occasion that someone does use drugs again, aftercare is the stage where these individuals can be helped back onto the path of sobriety.
